Back to School

Image
Like most others in the UK my smalls went back to school last week. It is a real mixed bag of feelings about this summer, on one hand it has felt like it has gone really quickly yet by the last two days the control freak in me was as ready to get back into the “normal” routine as were the kids. We have had so much fun and made lots of memories but glad to hang up my hat as chief entertainment officer and enjoy a hot coffee on a clean and quiet couch that is no longer a den or stepping stones through a lava floor. I always see the start of a new school year as a mini–New Year’s and use it as a good excuse to turn my house upside down, and sort it out with a good old deep clean which is why all things Raspberry Iguana and certainly the blogging has been very quiet. It appears that my smalls have been leaking crumbs constantly throughout the summer which does explain why they needed to be topped up on snacks all day long. With the house almost back under control I am back to it with Ras

Throwback Thursday

Image
I have hinted before that Raspberry Iguana has existed before so this blog will throwback. Raspberry Iguana was registered as a limited company as a gift for my 18 th  birthday; I don’t want to disclose how many years ago that was but trust me it was a lot, or certainly feels like it. If you were really interested, then there are ways to figure it out. Anyway, I was about to head off to university to study Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing with big dreams of becoming a fashion designer. My parents wanted me to have a name, label for all my designs whilst I was there. As explained previously, my brother gave me the nickname Princess Iguana so my parents thought that should be the natural choice, however you cannot call a limited company anything with princess in the name unless I am actually a princess, or my birth name is princess; so my parents had to spill the beans on what they were doing so I could tweak the name slightly. In all honesty I am not sure how Raspberry ended up re

Raspberry Iguana is Back

Raspberry Iguana is back from holiday – I am back from holiday. We actually got back last Friday evening, and it has been the usual post-holiday chaos of dealing with mountains of washing, followed by ironing and the return of our little lady, our hamster, from her own holiday at nanna and pop’s house. The holiday was filled with mixed emotions, let’s just say I am glad to be home and holiday blues haven’t set in although I do miss the heat but only accompanied by a pool and air con. Overall, the boys had a brilliant time and loved playing in the pool and practicing their swimming and diving. We ate loads of gelato and drank Aperol Spritz after dark (I drank Aperol Spritz). We saw lots of lizards – sadly none of them Iguana’s, Hehe but it did inspire something for a potential future product. The road trip was a success, and the boys made full use of their travel packs and only used iPads on the last 2 hours of the journey which made me feel proud. I think we can all agree that our favo

The End of July

Image
It is officially August today and Raspberry Iguana is well overdue another blogpost…. Up first is a roundup of my July challenges where I think I can safely say I hit two out of the three goals set. I did shout about Raspberry Iguana to my wider and personal community, and they have been really lovely in liking, commenting and sharing my posts. I am also gaining more confidence in talking openly about it because whilst it is only small, it is a part of me, I work hard on it and ultimately, I love doing it and we should all try and do more of what we love. I have also been taking advantage of scheduling posts on Instagram and Facebook and whilst it took a little time in the beginning to set-up a few posts at a time it has been working really well and has given me the freedom of not worrying about remembering to post. Also, I thought Pinterest was suffering because I haven’t scheduled uploading pins (to be honest I haven’t actually checked if it is possible or not – note to self to loo

Is There Such a Thing as a 10-minute Task?

Image
Currently there are 6 and a half school days left and with each passing hour I feel like I am looking more and more like the character Anxiety from Inside Out 2 (if you haven’t seen it yet then I thoroughly recommend). I have so many tabs open of all the things that I think I need to get done before summer starts because summer is for the smalls, and I intend to try and make it as fun as possible for them which means I need to get a few steps ahead. Luckily, the smalls are having a mini staycation at Nanny and Grandads for the first week, so I have a little more time. Thank-you! So, with time or lack of it at the forefront of my mind I was slightly relieved when the school mentioned I could skip the last two Mondays of term due to some fun end of term activities (I listen to the children read in my eldest’s class for an hour every Monday). With my ‘to do list’ written and confident that I would achieve everything on it – I added in a little 10-minute task to start the day. I have been

Tuesday Chooseday

Image
I am old fashioned and when it comes to getting things done, I am a fan of both a notebook and a list. As you can see from the photo, today has been a day of lists and a very productive one at that.  Posting on social media daily during June didn't give me much time to focus on anything else small business wise. Life has also been happening and it has been one of those weeks (reminder to self that we are still only on Tuesday) where everything seems to just need some sort of action, cleaning, washing, school runs, activities, appointment booking and re-arranging, summer holidays looming and an overall end of term tiredness taking over the house. My brain had so many tabs open that I was losing track of which one needed my attention next, so I woke up and in the spirit of my social media post today - for Tuesday/chooseday I chose to have a good day, a good old productive day. I armed myself with coffee, water, all of the notebooks and a pen and started to get organised.  I started w

June Challenge - Complete

Image
June, I set myself the challenge of Raspberry Iguana posting on social media every day, currently Raspberry Iguana is on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest and I did it! I posted 30 times on all three accounts with the exception of Pinterest which missed out on the ‘hope you are enjoying the sunshine’ post.  Impulsive as ever, I jumped two feet in and set the challenge on the evening of the 31 st  May which didn’t give me much time to prepare but equally not too much time to overthink it either. At this point I hadn’t told anyone about Raspberry Iguana on social media except my husband and this was how I left it for the first week. Even now, I still have only shared the pages with my immediate family because I wanted to complete the June challenge first, this may seem strange but my logic behind it is, when I do shout about their existence there will already be content there, the pages will look, fun, engaging and bright (hopefully) and give the audience a sense of what to expect from
